GTA Online finally has a proper welcome. New players now start with a cinematic intro that sets up the story, the crew and the chaos waiting in Los Santos.
The cutscene follows your character as they arrive in the city, meet a few familiar faces and get pulled into the first job within minutes. It is short, funny and shot like a trailer, and it does a much better job of explaining what GTA Online is than the old tutorial ever did. Veterans can skip it, but it is worth one watch for the easter eggs alone.
We captured it in 4K on the new-generation version so you can see every reflection on those freshly waxed cars.
Our favorite moments
The airport arrival that mirrors the original GTA V opening, the quick tour of the city from the back of a taxi and the moment the phone starts ringing with job offers before you have even bought a car. Small touches like radio chatter and street billboards referencing past updates make the whole thing feel alive.
“Every new player now gets the welcome veterans never had.”
